Uterine Growths Definition
Uterine growths, also known as endometriosis, are benign growths that come from the tissues of the uterine lining. These tissues develop into cysts on the pelvic area. When not treated, these growths can form scars and adhesions which can bind reproductive organs together.
Uterine Growths Diagnosis
Doctors perform pelvic tests and laparoscopy to detect growths in the uterine area.
Uterine Growths Symptoms and Signs
The symptoms of uterine growths are menstrual pain, heavy bleeding during menstruation, discomfort during sexual activity, urinary tract infections and in some cases, infertility.
Uterine Growths Treatment
Uterine growths can be treated with birth control pills. An artificial hormone called danazol is also given to patients in order to stop menstrual flow. When medications don't work, surgical removal called laparoscopy is done to clean out the growths in the uterine passage.
