Ascites Causes
Ascites is caused by the accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal cavity.
Ascites Definition
Ascites otherwise known as the Peritoneal Cavity Fluid or the Peritoneal Fluid Excess or the Hydroperitoneum or the Abdominal Dropsy, is the medical condition whereby there is an accumulation of fluid in the cavity located in the abdomen called Peritoneal.
Ascites Diagnosis
Diagnosis is made through physical examination of the abdomen whereby a visible and bulging of the flanks may be seen it may also be detected through undergoing complete blood count or CBC , undergoing ultrasound and abdominal CT Scan.
Ascites Symptoms and Signs
Symptoms includes abdominal distensions, shortness of breathing because of the damage in the diaphram, leg swelling, bruising, fatigue and weight loss.
Ascites Treatment
Treatment for Ascites includes salt restrictions, administration of diuretics which should be monitored daily and in some cases a liver transplantation.
