Hypersomnia Causes
Hypersomnia is caused by other sleep disorders such as sleep apnea and narcolepsy. It can also be due to a dysfunction in autonomic nervous system, and sometimes, physical problems such as trauma, tumors and substance abuse.
Hypersomnia Definition
Hypersomnia is a condition characterized by recurring episodes of excessive daytime sleepiness. People in this condition tend to take a nap at random hours during the day.

Diagnosis is by observing the symptoms shown by the patient.
Hypersomnia Symptoms and Signs
Among the symptoms of the condition are headache, dizziness, slow speech, weakness, restlessness, appetite loss and excessive sleepiness during the day. Naps taken do not provide any relief from the experienced ailments.
Hypersomnia Treatment
Treatment is done by managing the symptoms. Stimulants such as amphetamine may be prescribed to keep one awake during the day. One's biological clock should also be fixed by following a sleeping schedule. Caffeine drinks should be avoided.
