Laryngitis Causes
Laryngitis is commonly caused by a virus or occurs in people who overuse their voice. Occasionally, you can develop laryngitis from bacterial infections and, rarely, from infections such as tuberculosis, syphilis, or a fungal infection.
Laryngitis Definition
Laryngitis is the medical term for inflammation and swelling of the larynx, which is also known as the voice box. A lot of the causes of laryngitis, such as common viruses or using your voice too much, are not serious. there are few causes, however, require medical attention.
Laryngitis Diagnosis
Doctors examine vocal cords using an instrument with a light and a mirror placed in the back of the throat, which allows the doctor to see the vocal cords reflected in the mirror. Another way to check the vocal cords is with a flexible fiber optic scope.
Laryngitis Symptoms and Signs
The most common symptoms of laryngitis: Hoarseness, Feeling a tickle in your throat, the urge to constantly clear your throat, Fever, Cough, Congestion.
Laryngitis Treatment
The main treatment is to rest your voice as much as possible. If the symptoms has virus is present, such as low-grade fever, cough, nasal congestion, runny nose, muscle aches, or feeling run down, then you should be sure to drink lots of fluids. Several people find inhaling steam, such as from a hot bath or shower, or a cool mist humidifier makes them feel better.
