Neurogenic Bladder Causes


There are different causes of Neurogenic bladder disorder. Disorders that affects the neurologic response such as diabetes, acute infection, accident that affects the brain and spinal cord, genetic nerve problems and heavy metal poisoning.


Neurogenic Bladder Definition


Neurogenic bladder is a disorder of the muscles and nerves of the urinary system. The nerves is unable to carry the message properly that cause abnormal urinary function.


Neurogenic Bladder Diagnosis


To rule out neurogenic bladder disorder complete medical history and physical examination is necessary especially nervous system and urinary system assessmnent. Common Diagnostic test that are also useful in diagnosing this disease like X-ray of the skull and spine and electroencephalogram (EEG) to record brain's electrical activities.


Neurogenic Bladder Symptoms and Signs


The most common manifestation of neurogenic bladder are: urinary tract infection, kidney stone, fever, urinary incontinence, oliguria, urinary frequency and urgency and loss of sensation of bladder fullness.


Neurogenic Bladder Treatment


qThe treatment of this disorder is depend on the patient's age, health status, medical history, severity of symptoms, cause of the disorder, kind of voiding dysfuntion, the tolerance of medication, procedure or therapies. The interventions that is done for the patient with Neurogenic Bladder are catheterization (to empty the bladder at regular intervals) ,prophylactic antibiotic therapy (to reduce the incidence of infection) , placement of an artificial sphincter ? to prevent urinary incontinence and it also helps empty the bladder.
