Orchitis Causes


Orchitis is said to be caused by epididymitis which is the inflammation of the epididymis, and mumps.


Orchitis Definition


Orchitis is the medical inflammation where there is the inflammation of one or both testicles. It is usually connected to mumps.


Orchitis Diagnosis


Diagnosis includes physical examination which usually shows an enlarged lymph nodes in the groin and an enlarged testicles on the side affected. Rectal examination as well as under going screening tests such as STD Screening, Ultrasound imaging and Nuclear Scan of the testicles are used to confirm the medical condition that is seen in men.


Orchitis Symptoms and Signs


Symptoms includes swelling of one of both of the testicles that is usually tender and painful, nausea, discharge from the penis, fever and occurrence of blood in the semen.


Orchitis Treatment


Treatment depends if the orchitis is viral or bacterial. Viral Orchitis is usually through medications of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as naproxen and ibuprofen. On the other hand, if the orchitis is bacterial, oral administration of antibiotics such as cefriaxone and ciprofloxacin and doxycycine among others may be advised to treat the bacteria orchitis.
