A painful limb is a degenerative state of a limb brought about by certain causes; it can be due to an infection such as gangrene, or environmental events such as frostbites, accidents, as well as arteriosclerosis. As the affected limb further degenerates, the only form of treatment is that of surgical replacement or amputation.
