Pseudocholinesterase Deficiency
Pseudocholinesterase Deficiency Definition
Pseudocholinesterase deficiency is a hereditary abnormality of the blood plasma enzyme. Persons affected by the disorder tend to be sensitive to certain kinds of muscle relaxants and anesthetics. When anesthetic drugs are administered to these patients, they suffer from prolonged parlysis of the respiratory muscles, thus they require a respirator to generate breathing. Paralysis usually wears off eventually.
