Pseudopapilledema
Pseudopapilledema Causes
Pseudopapilledema can be an offset of other eye diseases such as optic disc drusden, hyperopia, and a myelinated optic fiber. In some cases it can be congenital.
Pseudopapilledema Definition
Pseudopapilledema is an atypical elevation of the eye's optic disc. It consists of acid mucopolysaccharides. Pseudopapilledema develops in severe cases of hyperopia and optic nerve drusden.
Pseudopapilledema Diagnosis
Pseudopapilledema can be observed under an ophthalmoscopic examination, or when the patient is undergoing treatment for another eye disease.
Pseudopapilledema Symptoms and Signs
Patients with pseudopapilledema do not experience visual symptoms. It can be unilateral or bilateral, but the disease can be easily detected during an ophthalmoscopic examination.
Pseudopapilledema Treatment
No specific treatment is needed to cure pseudopapilledema. The disease eventually subsides as the patient recovers from his major eye disease.
