The disease can be treated by the use of antibiotics. Mild cases of pyelonephritis can be treated with oral medication, but intravenous antibiotics are always recommended. Drugs such as fluoroquinolones, beta-lactam and nitrofurantoin are the ones commonly used for treatment.
