Somatostatinoma
Somatostatinoma Definition
Somatostatinoma is a rare endocrine pancreatic tumor that secretes excessive amount of somatostatin hormones. The tumor is closely associated with diabetes mellitus that produces symptoms such as hyperglycemia, malabsorption and excessive fat in feces. These tumors are malignant and are commonly located in the head of the pancreas. Chemotherapy by means of streptozocin, dacarbazine, and doxorubicin is the treatment for Somatostatinoma.
