Soto's Syndrome Definition
Soto's syndrome is a rare genetic disorder wherein excessive physical growth is observed during the first two to three years of life. This is the probable reason why this disorder is also named as cerebral gigantism. Children with this syndrome are often large at birth and often presents with larger heads and taller and heavier than what should be considered as normal for their age.
Soto's Syndrome Diagnosis
At present, there are still no exact diagnostic procedure or laboratory tests that can prove that an individual is affected by Soto's syndrome.
Soto's Syndrome Symptoms and Signs
Symptoms of Soto's syndrome vary among individuals but oftentimes include some or all of the following: ? Excessive larger and longer head with slightly protrusive forehead ? Large hands and feet ? Abnormally wide distance between the eyes ? Eyes that appear slanting down ? Clumsiness or awkward gait ? Unusual aggressiveness ? Irritability ? Academic and logical thinking is impaired ? Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ? Tantrums ? Speech and language delay ? Weak muscle tone that hinders motor skill development like sitting or crawling.
