The real cause of spondylarthropathy is unknown but risk factors include family history of spondylarthropathy and individuals who are HLA-B27 positive.
Spondylarthropathy Definition
Spondylarthropathy refers to a group of closely related inflammatory conditions affecting the sacroiliac joints, spine and in some cases other joints as well. Also referred to as seronegative arthropathy, this condition also involves other conditions such as inflammation of the urethra, alternating buttock pain, acute diarrhea, psoriasis, sacroiliitis or inflammatory bowel disease. Ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis and reactive arthritis are some of the disorders within this group.
Spondylarthropathy Diagnosis
Diagnostic procedures for spondylarthropathy include serology testing, X-ray of the sacroiliac joints, MRI on lumbar spine, and serum urate to detect rheumatoid factor. The choice of diagnostic procedure will greatly depend on the clinical presentation of the condition.

Spondylarthropathy Treatment
