Sprengel Deformity
Sprengel Deformity Definition
Sprengel deformity is a rare birth disorder wherein the shoulder blade is small and positioned high on the shoulders, which can affect arm movement. In some cases, the presence of a bony connection between the high positioned scapula and one cervical vertebra is observed known as omovertebral bone. The deformity is caused by descent failure of the shoulder blade during embryonic development.
