Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation Definition
Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) is procedure wherein a device sends electrical current to the nerves. This is a painless procedure used to relieve pain, stiffness and immobility of the muscles that give the patient muscle pain. It can also be used to administer steroids into inflamed muscles as well enhance the production of endorphins in the body.
