Vascular purpura occurs when alterations in the mechanical integrity of the blood vessels leads to bleeding, particularly under the skin.

Vascular pupura is the appearance of red or purple discolorations on the skin. The small spots are called petechiae, which are less than 1cm, while the large ones are called ecchymoses, which are bigger than 1cm.
